MIDLAND, Texas — The City of Midland tells NewsWest 9 that Midland Police are investigating a fatal car incident.
According to the release, on Tuesday, Dec. 5 at 2:15 a.m., Midland Police responded to a call regarding a fatal accident in the 3200 block of N. Fairgrounds Road.
When officers arrived, they found 34-year-old Carlos Enrique Soto deceased at the scene from injuries sustained in the accident.
According to MPD's investigation, officers found that a 2017 black GMC pickup was traveling northbound on Fairgrounds Road and left the roadway, striking a traffic pole on the southwest corner of the intersection of Fairgrounds Road and Wadley Ave.
Shortly after the one-vehicle accident, the City says a white Ford Fusion was traveling southbound on Fairgrounds Road and struck the wrecked GMC pickup still in the roadway.
The driver and passenger of the Ford Fusion were transported to Midland Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
MPD is still investigating the accident and we will update this story once we learn more.
