MIDLAND, Texas — An AMBER Alert was issued Tuesday night after an 11-month-old was kidnapped in Midland.
The girl, named Darla, was taken by 29-year-old Zach Jack Smith.
According to the Midland Police Department, the alert was discontinued after Darla was reunited with her family Wednesday morning.
Smith is in custody as of 4:50 a.m.
MPD said Smith physically assaulted his common law wife before taking their three children and her 11-month-old infant out of the home without her consent.
All four children were found safe at a hotel room in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Smith was arrested and charged with kidnapping and continuous family violence.
