Annual Mill and Inlay Project to begin in Midland

According to the City of Midland, by opting for mill and inlay, the city avoids the need for full street reconstruction, which is costlier and more invasive.

MIDLAND, Texas — The City of Midland has started its annual Mill and Inlay project this week on Neely Avenue, spanning from Midkiff Road to "A" Street., according to a press release from the City of Midland. 

The project encompasses the following phases: 

Phase 1 from Midkiff Road to Ward Street, Phase 2 from Ward Street to Garfield Street, Phase 3 from L Street to Western Street, and Phase 4 from Western Street to “A” Street. 

The mill and inlay process involves removing distressed pavement and replacing it with a new asphalt surface. 

Additionally, the city aims to upgrade the existing 2-inch-thick surface to a 5-inch-thick asphalt pavement layer, resulting in a more durable and smoother driving surface. 

According to the City of Midland, by opting for mill and inlay, the city avoids the need for full street reconstruction, which is costlier and more invasive. 

The project is slated for completion by the end of May.
