ANDREWS, Texas — The Andrews Police Department has provided an update on a hit-and-run accident that took the life of a six-year-old Andrews boy. Andrews PD is saying that a second vehicle hit the boy.
At approximately 6:04 a.m. on Wednesday morning, officers and EMS were dispatched to the 200 block of SE Avenue E in response to an auto pedestrian accident, according to a post on the Andrews Texas Police Department Facebook page.
The post further stated that preliminary reports indicated that a juvenile male was struck by a vehicle in the roadway, and the driver fled the scene. The vehicle is described as a White Dodge Ram Gang Truck. Andrews PD was able to identify the truck and the driver that originally struck the boy.
According to Andrews PD's investigation, a second vehicle behind the truck hit the boy as well.
A passerby discovered the juvenile and then called 911.
A Texas Highway Patrol trooper was the first to arrive and attempted life-saving measures, followed by officers and EMS who continued these efforts. The juvenile was transported to Permian Regional Medical Center, where he later died.
The Andrews Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance with any video or witness information from the area of South Main and Avenue E, and Southeast Avenue E, eastbound towards SE Mustang. The incident is believed to have occurred between 6 a.m. and 6:04 a.m.

Andrews PD is also looking for the driver of the second vehicle and is asking the driver to call them as soon as possible.
