ODESSA, Texas — Delia Casillas of Odessa has shown up to work everyday since she first opened her shop. A boutique that's been around for 32 years.
"To this day, it makes me happy," said Casillas.
Lori's Boutique offers dresses for events such as prom, weddings and Quinceñeras. The shop is named after Casillas' daughter.
Casillas first started her business out of her own home in Odessa before moving into a location. The location after that would become where the shop established itself the longest. However, when it first took root, everything took a turn for the worst.
"The biggest difficulty I faced along the way was when I was robbed," Casillas said. "It was when I had just started at this new location [...] I had to move in here and start from scratch because they stole everything.”
Casillas said perseverance and faith allowed her to start from the bottom once again. Especially, her love for the dresses.
"What makes me happy you ask? Seeing the girls," Casillas said. "When I see them looking beautiful in their dresses."
The month of January serves as one of her busiest times of the year as several young women begin to plan for their Quinceñeras. A traditional celebration in the Hispanic heritage that symbolizes a girl's transition towards becoming a young woman as they celebrate turning 15 years old.
