ANDREWS, Texas —
The Andrews community came out to see the unveiling of a monument Saturday honoring the late County Judge Charlie Falcon.
The square around the county courthouse was also renamed Falcon Square.
“Charlie loved people, and he loved this community more than anything, and of course he loved God first and his family. But this community, where he was raised his whole life is so important from him from when he began working for the county when he was in high school,” said Trina Falcon, Charlie Falcon's wife.
Those he worked with felt he did his job well and was a prime example of what a public servant should be.
“Charlie had a lot of core values that were just brought up in his collaboration with all the different entities and how he brought people together, you know, during some crucial times. Just everybody loved Charlie," said Jason Harper, mayor of Andrews. "And so, as the city of Andrews, we thought it was important they have a monument for him. I'm not saying that nobody else in the past wasn't deserving, it just was, you know, the right thing."
Charlie Falcon’s family couldn’t be happier to see their loved one honored in such a way by the community he worked so hard to serve his whole life.
“In our family, Charlie is just a simple man who loved his family and loved people. And to have such an honor like this, there's not enough words to express the gratitude that we have and the love that people had and appreciated him for what he did for this community and all the lives that he impacted through his job as county judge,” said Trina Falcon.
