Midland County Horseshoe making upgrades and additions to policies

"We really wanted to open up the availability of the Horseshoe and loosen some things from the past and just kind of make it more 2023," said the Horseshoe Director.

MIDLAND, Texas — The Midland County Horseshoe is still in a transitional phase, just months after being taken over by the County and under new leadership by Director Ken Olson, who is already getting ready to usher in some upgrades and additions to policies.

“All good things and we’re heading the right way. We really wanted to open up the availability of the Horseshoe and loosen some things from the past and just kind of make it more 2023," said Olson. "It’s for the people it’s for the people in the area it’s for the community the entire venue is for the community."

Bringing in food trucks on the premises during events is one thing Olson is looking to do.

"Food trucks have been a really big draw this is the first to my knowledge that they’ve been brought back or allowed," Olson said. "We just kind of need to put a better process in place of working with food trucks. They are free to use and free to bring out. There’s no additional cost to the renter or the truck,"

According to Olson, he and the County Commissioners want to be able to provide those spaces for local businesses.

"We want to work with those local businesses which includes the food trucks. Food trucks were just kind of a lot of people asked about it. It’s very possible to do it’s fairly simple to do," said Olson. "It helps local business it’s helps small businesses and that’s what myself and the Commissioners were kind of aiming for."

They're also working on another big improvement, credit card accessibility.

"We’re working on getting credit card payments which is now approved today so we’re working with a vendor who supplies that credit card processing so folks can pay by credit card which I think in the digital day and age we are in, people don’t have to bring a check anymore," he said. "We want to make that card payment available too."

Olson is also ready to bring back old events and welcome in new ones.

"We’re excited to be bringing out some new events and some different events and some events that have maybe gone away for a while and come back that kind of deal. It’s an exciting time and it’s all going well," he said.
