ODESSA, Texas — Folks in Odessa were out celebrating together while also bringing awareness to an important cause, Elder Abuse Awareness Month.
The Senior Summer Celebration event happened on June 5 to educate the public on what many seniors go through as they get older.
According to DFPS Annual Data Books, caseworkers in the Permian Basin confirmed nearly 900 cases of abuse, neglect, or financial exploitation of elderly adults last year alone.
The event took place at the American Legion and included a fashion show and a craft class.
