MIDLAND, Texas — Get ready athletes: the Special Olympics will be coming to West Texas!

It was approved by Midland City Council Tuesday.

Their "Fall Classic" will be relocated to Midland and Odessa.

Giving thousands of special needs athletes the opportunity to compete in a variety of sports that they may not have been able to compete in before.

"The 'Fall Classic' involves things like swimming at the natatorium at the COM, bocchi, equestrian [and] riding, it's West Texas, we're agrarian a little bit," Midland City Councilman At-Large Dan Corrales said. "So I think having all of those different events for kids to perform in, where else in Midland can they do that right now?"
