MARFA, Texas — The Big Bend Conservation Alliance gave away some trees to people in a West Texas town Saturday morning.
At the Marfa Public Library, anyone who showed up was able to adopt a tree.
This year marked the 500th tree they've planted or given away as part of the Tree Equity in the Big Bend program.
The trees were donated by Apache Corporation, who donate tens of thousands of trees to nonprofits in Texas, Louisiana and New Mexico.
The next giveaway is at the Alpine Public Library, located at 805 W Ave E in Alpine, on Nov. 27 at noon.
