BIG BEND NATIONAL PARK, Texas — The Big Bend National Park will be making some emergency repairs on the western park entrance road.

Starting on Feb. 26 and ending on March 1, crews will be making emergency repairs along the western park entrance road. Visitors entering Big Bend National Park from Highway 118 to the entrance near Study Butte/Terlingua will be faced with single lane traffic and delays of up to an hour while the crews repair a "heavily eroded section of road base."

Road work will start each day at 10 a.m. and continue until about 6 p.m. If planning on going to the park, make plans to arrive early.

The other entrance to the park is at Persimmon Gap, located 39 miles south of Marathon along Highway 385. That entrance will be open.

Updates will be posted through social media on the park's Facebook and Instagram sites, as well as the Big Bend NPS website.
