BREWSTER COUNTY, Texas — Brewster County Deputies and US Border Patrol Agents initiated a pursuit on Tuesday night, April 23, after tracking a group of undocumented immigrants from Mexico. The suspects had been dropped off south of Marathon, according to the Brewster County Sheriff's Office Facebook page.
The suspects attempted to evade the checkpoint, with plans to be picked up later along Highway 90 but were apprehended and subsequently referred to Border Patrol agents for processing.
An ongoing investigation is underway, and charges will be filed against the driver of the vehicle involved in the smuggling operation, the post stated.
