Burglars steal 6 guns from Odessa gun shop

After a burglary in which six guns were stolen, the Rusty Spur Gun Shoppe and Odessa Police are working on what to do next.

ODESSA, TX (KWES) - "It was pretty much what I expected," says, store owner Marvin Witcher.

Those were the first thoughts running through the head of Marvin Witcher, owner of the Rusty Spur Gun Shoppe in Odessa after seeing his shop broken into Monday morning.

"You just feel violated, these people took something from me and my family that they didn't deserve," says Witcher.

The thought of the guns being out on the street in this manner  is most worrisome to Witcher.

"It's always bad to get stolen guns out on the street because we don't know who's going to end up with them. We do everything we can to abide by the law and do what we're supposed to do but it's hard to prevent something like this from occurring," says Witcher.

The Odessa Police Department say this type of burglary usually happens with convenience stores and they have an idea of how many suspects were involved.

Corporal Steve LeSueur, of the Odessa Police says, "We do know there were at least three, two of the suspects made entry, however we do believe there is a third suspect involved as well."

Since opening the shop five years ago, this was the first time a burglary occurred.

"This is the first incident in five years, five and a half years. What else can I say," said Witcher.
