City of McCamey receives $50,000 grant from the Lower Colorado River Authority

The city will add walking paths, exercise stations and updated playground equipment to Sante Fe Park.

MCCAMEY, Texas — According to a Facebook post from the McCamey City Secretary, thanks to a $50,000 grant from the Lower Colorado River Authority, the City of McCamey will be adding walking paths, exercise stations and updated playground equipment to Santa Fe Park.

The grant is the Community Development Partnership Program grant, and will be joined by nearly $75,000 in matching funds from the City of McCamey, the McCamey Economic Development Corporation and Upton County.

The equipment and landscaping upgrades are scheduled to be completed in time for McCamey's Centennial Anniversary in 2025 and festivities planned at the park in July of that year.

The grant will help the city upgrade the park with new landscaping and the addition of a formal garden and a public play area more suitable for younger children than other options in the area.

The community grant is one of 45 grants awarded recently through LCRA’s Community Development Partnership Program, which helps volunteer fire departments, local governments, emergency responders and nonprofit organizations fund capital improvement projects in LCRA’s wholesale electric, water and transmission service areas.
