City of Midland vehicle crashes into local thrift store

The incident occurred Monday morning at the Twice Around Thrift Store on Illinois and Weatherford.

MIDLAND, Texas — The City of Midland confirmed that one of their city vehicles crashed into a local thrift store Monday morning.

The incident happened at the Twice Around Thrift Store on Illinois and Weatherford.

Security footage shows the vehicle crashing through the front window of the store, kicking up debris and glass, while knocking store goods to the floor.

Store owner Seth Caples was not in the store at the time, but went to the store after being notified of the crash by the City of Midland on Facebook.

“We were contacted I believe, on Facebook, from the city that there had been a catastrophe at the store," Caples said. "So we rushed here and saw that a city vehicle had smashed through the register area of our store.”

Nobody was hurt during the crash, as the store was closed and nobody was inside the shop at the time.

The crash is still under investigation and we will continue to update this story as we receive more information.
