MIDLAND, Texas — The City of Midland has warned residents of scammers that are reaching out to people on NextDoor or other lost pet pages and contacting them about their animals.

Scammers are saying they represent Midland Animal Services and are requesting payment. The city is asking for residents to please be aware that is not how the City of Midland and Midland Animal Services operate.

Midland Animal Services wants to remind residents that it does not request anyone to pay over the phone.

Midland Animal Services also states the following: “If a resident believes we have picked up their animal, they must come in person to verify that it is indeed their animal. At that point, they must show proof of ownership and pay any fees incurred during the animal's stay with us.”
