The post added that The City of Odessa's Utilities Department searches for areas that have the highest percentage of water main breaks and that's how the city determines what areas they need to start repairs on, with some of the pipes believed to be 75 years old.

An example was provided of the cost of these pipe repairs, stating that a replacement project will be taking place in the area of Crane Avenue from 2nd to Pool Road and have a projected cost of $5 million dollars.
