Crash kills San Angelo man, injures 2 others

Two Midland men were transported to the hospital with non-incapacitating injuries.

UPTON COUNTY, Texas — A San Angelo man is dead following a two-vehicle crash in Upton County on May 13.

According to DPS, Christopher Castro, 47, was driving a truck tractor towing a semi-trailer north on SH 349 15 miles north of Rankin. The weather was rainy and there was standing water on the road, and Castro was reportedly traveling at an unsafe speed for the condition.

Castro's vehicle jackknifed and entered the southbound lane, striking a Peterbilt truck.

The driver and passenger of the other vehicle were transported to Rankin County Hospital with non-incapacitating injuries. Both men were from Midland.

Castro was pronounced dead at the scene.
