Rescue Runners held in honor of Councilman Dan Corrales

On Saturday, Midland Animal Services remembered all the support they got from Corrales.

MIDLAND, Texas — Though all the employees and volunteers of Midland Animal Services were once again more than happy to hold another Rescue Runners to benefit the animals, they also knew that this time around it was a different kind of Rescue Runners.

“Today is special because it’s being dedicated to Dan Corrales," said Tasha Sport, a volunteer at Midland Animal Services. "Dan was very involved in the animal community and he also served on the Animal Advisory Commission.”

Councilman Corrales was known for his support of Animal Services and often attended and volunteered his time at various animal related events in Midland.

“He was always on social media advertising for those events trying to get the word out and get the community involved. He loved the community and wanted the community to be more involved,” Sport added.

He even spent time trying to understand what things were like for Animal Services on a day-to-day basis.

"Just as we all know, Dan was very devoted to the Midlanders," Sport continued. "He was equally devoted to the animals. He spent time here at the animal shelter. He went on ride alongs with the officers, and he actually sat down with the staff here just to learn what their day-to-day job involved, what their struggles and heartache was as well."

Councilman Corrales’s contributions to Midland Animal Services won’t be easily forgotten anytime soon.
