MIDLAND, TX (KWES) - The Permian Basin has been the center of the Texas U.S. Senate race the last few days.
Earlier this week, incumbent Senator Ted Cruz visited Midland. Today it was his challenger's turn to visit the Tall City.
Democratic Congressman Beto O'Rourke spoke to a packed house at the MLK Center.
O'Rourke talked about running a campaign for the people, being in the Permian Basin, and how our region's economy helps make the state thrive, along with other items.
O'Rourke says seeing communities like the ones in West Texas will help run a successful campaign.
"It's only going to be possible if everyone in Texas makes it. So, going to all 254 counties, having multiple town hall meetings in Midland; we've also had them in Odessa; we've also had them in Big Spring, in Roscoe, in Sweetwater, every single community. Every single person is deserving of being heard and listened to and thought for. Then, together we can make something, that otherwise would be impossible, happen," said O'Rourke.
O'Rourke says his campaign has raised almost seven million dollars.
