ODESSA, Texas — Ector County Independent School District tells NewsWest 9 that ECISD Police with the assistance of the FBI are investigating two anonymous online threats that mentioned guns. One of the threats mentioned Permian High School.
One threat was sent Tuesday morning, and the second one was in the afternoon.
The first threat was posted anonymously and did not mention any school, but was posted by an unofficial PHS account, according to ECISD. The second threat was posted by the same account but did mention PHS. Both threats mentioned bringing a gun to school.
ECISD says that ECISD Police with the assistance of the FBI are trying to track down the person responsible for the threat.
According to ECISD, police do not believe the threat to be credible, but are taking it seriously.
On Wednesday, officers were placed at PHS and Odessa High for precaution.
