ODESSA, TX (KWES) - High school students with the Ector County Independent School District will get to have an extended summer break.
The Ector County Independent School District announced at a press conference on Tuesday morning that students at Odessa and Permian High School won't be starting on August 24 due to construction.
Officials say school for high school students only will begin on September 8.
ECISD officials say to make up for the missed days, they will be using a minute system so they don't have to make up each day missed so 25 minutes will be added to each school day throughout the year.
Football games will go on as scheduled and there will still be two bad weather days.
