ODESSA- According to the Odessa PIO, an Ector County Sheriff's Deputy and another man were shot in Odessa.

One male suspect was arrested at the Windchase Apartment Complex at 50th and Tanglewood.

Deputies say Deputy Javier Leyva was watching a suspect in a white 2003 Oldsmobile at the N-N-Out Convenience Store in the 3200 block of West 10th and Loop 338 on Friday afternoon.

The suspect was also said to be possibly involved in a previous shooting earlier in the week. The suspect got out of his vehicle and tried to car jack another vehicle.

He shot the driver of the car once and shot Leyva in the leg when he went to check on the victim. Leyva tried to fire back, but the suspect fled in the white Oldsmobile.The car was later located at Dawn and University.

The male suspect was then located at the Windchase Apartments by state troopers after they received a tip. The suspect was arrested with no incident and a weapon was recovered at the scene.

Police are also talking to two female suspects but no other arrests have been made.Both victims have been transported to Medical Center Hospital. Leyva is in stable condition and the other victim is in surgery.

Multiple units from various law enforcement agencies have responded to the scene.
