Escaped inmate caught, other remains on the run in New Mexico

We have an update on the escaped inmates that escaped from a prisoner transport van.

ALBUQUERQUE, NM (KWES) - We have an update on the escaped inmates that escaped from a prisoner transport van.

According to NBC affiliate, KOB, Joseph Cruz, 32, was in custody on Friday evening.

The other inmate, Lionel Clah, 29, remains on the run.

KOB is reporting that Cruz was initially spotted near Central Ave. and University Blvd. in Albuquerque. He was later arrested by probation and parole officers after a short foot chase.

According to KOB, when Cruz was questioned about his escape, he said, "I didn't have help. I did it myself."

Back on Wednesday night, the two men escaped from a prisoner transport van near Artesia, New Mexico.

Then on Friday, the men were caught on video in the lobby of a motel near the University of Albuquerque.

The search continues for Clah.
