MIDLAND, Texas — Amtrak may be adding a stop in Midland sometime in the near future.
The Federal Railroad Administration is studying how to restore and expand Amtrak’s daily long-distance service across the country.
The study will outline a long-term plan for long-distance rail travel and the resources required to achieve it.
Under the BIL of 2021, the FRA has the authority to conduct a study on the feasibility of restoring and increasing Amtrak daily long-distance service. The study will also look at adding new routes that would connect and benefit different regions, enhance the national passenger rail network and respond to public needs.
One of these routes would add a stop in Midland, with the route beginning in Dallas and concluding in San Francisco.
