Odessa Fire Station 6 sold to Town and Country Drug owners

On July 14, a fire at Payne's Gym left Town and Country Drug with major smoke damage. Now, they're buying a new building for $270,000.

ODESSA, Texas — The City of Odessa is selling one of its properties to help rebuild what was damaged in a fire just a couple of weeks ago.

The new owners of Fire Station 6 are Megan and Andrew Prado, the owners of Town and Country Drug.

On July 14, a fire at Payne's Gym destroyed two businesses and left two others with smoke damage.

One of those that was left with smoke damage was Town and Country Drug, which was also left with water damage.

At Tuesday's city council meeting, the city officially handed off ownership of the building that will allow for the new Town and Country to be located close to their old location.

"The city is in possession of a lot of properties throughout the city," Odessa Mayor Javier Joven said. "A lot of raw properties and also a lot of buildings. One of the most difficult processes is to divest ourselves of those investments. One reason is that they're dilapidated, they have a lot of deed restrictions, and many of them are just not suitable for an array of things in today's modern world. Station 6, located on Brentwood, is one of those locations."

The building sold for $270,000.
