MIDLAND, Texas — Fix West Texas is making more room for its furry friends!
They're breaking ground on their new permanent location behind Mid-Cities Church near Highway 191 in Midland.
It will expand their facility from 4,000 square feet to 10,000 square feet.
The price tag for the new location is a whopping $1.5 million.
The goal is to better serve the community in Midland-Odessa to provide affordable and preventive care to the animals.
"It has been four years in the making," Fix West Texas Director of Adoptions Beth Meeks said. "It started out as mobile with spay neuter clinics. We moved into a single-wide business facility [then] after about a year and a half we moved into a double-wide because we ran out of space. Now, we are completely busting out of the scene. With this new facility we will be able to have two veterinarians, instead of one, every single day doing surgery. So we can double that impact."
Fix West Texas expects to open up the new facility some time in 2024.
