MIDLAND COUNTY, Texas — Four people were arrested in connection to bringing what authorities say was "contraband and a prohibited substance" inside the Midland County Detention Center.
Through a Tuesday news release, authorities say that on Nov. 14, the Midland County Sheriff's Office assisted the jail staff with an "investigation involving contraband being introduced to the jail."
The release did not go into detail on the items and when exactly the substances were discovered inside the detention center.
The result of the investigation prompted the arrest of four people: Ethanial Xavier Galvan, 21; Maranda Jazan Avila, 26; Daevon Lamont Wilson, 26; and Ailan Monje-Arellano, 22.
"All four individuals were arrested and charged with two felony counts of prohibited substance/item in a correctional facility," the release said. "All four individuals have been booked into Midland County Central Detention. The investigation is ongoing."
Galvan, who was not listed in the county jail records as of press time, also had a warrant for possession of marijuana under two ounces. The other three were listed in the county jail detainees list as of Tuesday.
"Sheriff David Criner remains committed to the safety and security of Midland County Central Detention Center," the release concluded.
