ODESSA, Texas — ECISD held their 6th annual Frost Technical Car Show Saturday in Odessa.
Members of the community got to come out and bring all their nice cars to be judged and even got to win trophies made by the welding students and painted by collision technology students.
"This is my 6th year to have this car show," said Mark Vaught, auto collision instructor for Frost Technical Center. "It's a fundraiser that supports the program and the money, all the proceeds supports and goes back to the students one way or another. We feed them a couple times a year and it's just things of that nature."
The show has come a long way since it first started and Vaught says that the community is now more aware of it than ever.
“We’re pretty much a dedicated show now," Vaught continued. "Everyone knows when we’re fixing to have it. West Texas Street Rod Association sponsors this regularly and they come out a lot and we’re advertising -on the internet and through them and it’s kind of a go to show now.”
Vaught is happy that the community not only gets to come out and have a good time but also that the students get exposed to all sorts of different vehicles.
“Students come out, they get excited talking to people, see cars, kind of like what we do in the body shop," Vaught added. "Lot of it has to do with welding too. It’s all part of the community being friendly with everybody.”
