Greenwood ISD breaks ground on new facility

The facility is an indoor turf field that will be used for all students, band, athletics and elementary kids.

GREENWOOD, Texas — Greenwood ISD broke ground on a new multipurpose center on Thursday.

The facility is an indoor turf field that will be used for all students, band, athletics and elementary kids.

It's a great way for the students to practice while staying out of the heat.

The indoor facility will include turf along with a track around it.

"It's going to bring new life and new expectations to the Greenwood community and give them an area they can practice football and other sports inside. They will have batting cages that'll drop down and things of this nature," said Neil Easter, vice president of operations for Lee Lewis.

Greenwood ISD said as they continue growing, they're building two elementary campuses and an intermediate campus.

The district is looking to be in the facility by August of 2025.
