GREENWOOD - Greenwood ISD has changed up their plans for their school bond. At Monday night's meeting, the board approved a new middle school plan.

"We will be building a 5th grade through 8th grade campus across the street," Superintendent, Ariel Elliott said.

Elliot told NewsWest 9 the $51.5 million bond, approved last May, intended to house 3rd through 8th graders. But when he took over as Superintendent this past summer, he realized the plan wasn't the best for students.

"It's important for us to do what's best for our kids, academically, and to be wise with our funding," he said. "The board approved to go to a 5th grade through 8th grade middle school campus."

And he's gotten right to work on plans for the new campus.

"We were working on it (Tuesday) morning and hopefully by August 2016, we will be in that building," Elliott said.

With new students enrolling all the time, Elliot also explained that he wants to be prepared should more growth occur.
