Hobbs motorcyclist dies in Gaines County crash

GAINES COUNTY, Texas — A Hobbs motorcyclist has died due to injuries sustained in a single-vehicle crash on Nadine Rd. in Gaines County on Saturday, Aug. 17 around 9:28 p.m., according to a press release from the Texas Department of Public Safety.

According to a preliminary report, 57-year-old Robert Gibson, driving a 2013 Harley Davidson Street Glide, was going westbound on Nadine Rd. Gibson was going too fast for the curve in the roadway, veered off the road and fell into the north barrow ditch.

Gibson was taken to Covenant Health in Hobbs where he later died.

According to the report, Gibson was not wearing a helmet.

The crash remains under investigation.
