MIDLAND, Texas — On Tuesday, NewsWest 9 spoke with the I-20 Wildlife Preserve Executive Director Wes Faris on the recent vandalism at the preserve.
During the week of April 15, a visitor gave the reserve a call and sent pictures of the vandalism.
A well behind the butterfly exhibit had its pipes kicked in and broken. A screen door was also kicked in and various locks were busted.
NewsWest 9 was told the damage to the well is significant.
"The well that we have at the butterfly garden, it's one of the few area that we actually have irrigation here at the reserve," Faris said. "And as we are coming up on our spring season we're about to plant our new plants and vegetations back there for the habitat and the wildlife, and now the well is completely turned off, so we are behind on getting that going."
If anyone has information in relation to the vandalism, you are asked to give the preserve a call.
