MONAHANS, TX (KWES) - An investigation is pending after two men were hurt on Wednesday as a result of a train collision in Monahans.
According to the Ward County Daily, the trains collided at the railroad crossing near Evan and Sealy Ave. The volunteer fire chief told the news outlet both men were responsive and didn't appear to have life-threatening injuries.
He added investigators don't think it was a head-on crash and one train was headed to the yard when it derailed.
Investigators told the Daily it appeared a broken rail line caused the tracks. The crew didn't have time to warn the other train and hit it at about 70 mph.
