MIDLAND, Texas — It's important to keep mother earth clean and litter free, that's why one non-profit group made it their mission to do just that on Thursday.
Keep Midland Beautiful (KMB) board members were out cleaning in Midland.
They were bagging up trash around Loop 250 and Midland Dr.
Even some city leaders pitched in, as this was all part of KMB's fall sweep.
"We are participating in our fall sweeps campaign which begins [on] September 11th and ends in November 11th. And what it is is we have adopted spots our volunteers that go on clean and do their part to keep the community in nice shape," Keep Midland Beautiful Executive Director Joy Paulson said. "We're members out [in Midland] cleaning up a very busy intersection, but we're having a lot of fun."
If you were not able to pitch in Thursday, there will be other opportunities for you if you're looking to get your hands on some trash to clean up the Midland community.
Paulson said they are hosting their 18th annual Texas Recycling Day on Nov. 11 at the Chaparral Center Parking Lot at Midland College from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
"We're taking in tires only four per car, [then metals and] electronics. Secure Shredding will be there to shred your confidential items," Paulson said. "We're going to also have Goodwill there [to take] gently used items. So we're really excited. Always [a] big turnout."
