Keep Midland Beautiful plants trees at Hill Park

The organization planted 20 trees in the park as well as giving away a free tree.

MIDLAND, Texas — Keep Midland Beautiful did their part to make the Tall City a little greener at Hill Park Friday.

They planted 20 trees as well as giving away a free tree.

The planting was all thanks to Valiant funding. Employees from some of those organizations came to help plant by digging holes, laying down irrigation and staking and mulching the trees.

"We're seeing more extreme weather conditions everywhere," Mac Martin, Texas A&M program leader, said. "It's getting tougher to be a tree after having near historic drought conditions and the warm summer months the year before. So, it's important. A lot of the trees, the cedar elms, those are the ones going to be drought hardy moving forward and ones we expect to be alive and thrive in this community."

This tree planting is the 2nd Valiant Tree Planting and Giveaway they've done.
