ODESSA- When you stop at your local gas station, you're usually there to fill up your tank or grab something to eat but one Love's Truck Stop in Odessa is getting some national attention for something that's in the holiday spirit.
"Our Christmas merchandise is flying off the shelves right now, it's hard to keep in stock," Love's General Manager, Rodney Jackson, said.
A gas station isn't what typically comes to mind when you think of Christmas shopping but it seems like everyone is jumping on the bandwagon. There are over 300 Love's stores in the nation and the store in Odessa ranks number eight in the country and number one in the region for Christmas sales.
"You know what we offer, convenience. Those oilfield guys they work 19 to 20 hour days, they don't have time to go to Wal-Mart or Target to shop," Jackson said.
The store has everything you could imagine, from T-shirts to jackets to baby dolls and board games. This Love's store is just like any other gift store. There are a few items they just can't keep on the shelves.
"Toys, a lot of toys. It's hard to keep them in stock," Jackson said.
If you're wondering where all these shoppers are coming from, it's no surprise.
"I would say probably 75 to 85 percent of our business is from the oilfield," Jackson said.
