MIDLAND, Texas — Midland Police Department (MPD) responded to a disturbance on Wednesday night at 4300 block of Storey Avenue involving weapons which led to the arrest of a man.
According to a news release, the victim was an unidentified female.
"Due to the extent of her injuries, she was transported to Midland Memorial Hospital for further evaluation,” police report says.
When authorites arrived, the suspect made threats to harm himself and the responding officers. The suspect was arrested without resisting and charged with assault by choking.
MPD identified the suspect as Corey Ritchie, 54.
Authorites tell media outlets that "additional charges are pending following the victim's medical evaluation."
