ODESSA, Texas — The Odessa Police Department reports of a fatal accident that happened around 7:39 p.m. on Wednesday.
According to a media release, OPD and Odessa Fire Rescue responded to the scene of a major crash in the 8900 block of Ratliff Ridge.
Once an investigation was done, it revealed that Oscar Chavez, driving a silver 2014 Chevrolet Silverado, was traveling north on Ratliff Ridge and attempted to turn west on 90th St. As Chavez was attempting to make the turn, he collided with David Cao, who was driving south on Ratliff Ridge in a Kawasaki dirt bike with reportedly "no lights or reflectors."
Cao was transported to Medical Center Hospital where he would later die due to his injuries.
Next of kin has been notified and an investigation continues.
