ODESSA, Texas — A motorcyclist is in serious condition at a Lubbock-area hospital after the driver of a Chevrolet Silverado "failed to yield the right of way," according to the Odessa Police Department (OPD).
On Sunday, Oct. 27 at approximately 7:19 p.m., OPD and Odessa Fire Rescue were called to a major collision at 42nd St. and JBS Parkway.
When OPD arrived and conducted an investigation, it revealed that a white 2005 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Julio Martinez, was going eastbound on 42nd St. approaching JBS Parkway.
Michael Johnson, the driver of a 2007 Harley Davidson, was going westbound on 42nd St. approaching JBS Parkway.
According to OPD, while Martinez was still in the eastbound lanes, he turned north onto JBS Parkway and "failed to yield the right of way." That caused a serious collision between Martinez and Johnson.
Johnson was taken to Medical Center Hospital and then later air-lifted to Lubbock.
OPD said Johnson is in serious condition.
An investigation is ongoing.
