Midland College holds reception to celebrate new College President

Dr. Damon Kennedy began his term in early July and has been with the college in various roles for 19 years.

MIDLAND, Texas — Midland College held a big reception on Oct. 16 to celebrate their new College President Dr. Damon Kennedy.

Dr. Kennedy started his term back in July of this year and has been working at the college for 19 years. He was most recently the Vice President of Instructional Services and was even a student at Midland College.

"I was asked for the number of occasions to apply for administrative positions while a faculty member and I declined several of those because I love working with students I love being in the classroom," Dr. Kennedy said. "Had a young family at the time I really enjoyed the flexibility. I love researching and writing so it was sort of the best of all worlds for me to be a faculty member. But after doing some soul searching there as well decided in 2015 to go after an administrative role. And then since then it's been a whirlwind. Like say here, here I am."

One of Kennedy's biggest accomplishments during his time with MC has been launching the Pre-K Academy at the College.
