MIDLAND, Texas — Fire stations across the country are spreading awareness during fire prevention week.
The Midland Fire Department (MFD) announced their theme for the week as "Smoke alarms: make them work for you."
MFD made the announcement in a Facebook post.
They also offered advice for Midland residents:
- MFD reminds residents to have smoke alarms in every bedroom, and to have them set up in each separate area in your home, these alarms also need to be tested routinely to ensure proper function.
- MFD recommends that fire alarms should be replaced every 10 years, or if they stop responding when tested.
