MIDLAND, Texas — The City of Midland reports a new fiscal year record in airline passengers at Midland International Air & Space Port.
In an early Tuesday morning news release, the Airports Department reported that in August alone there were a total of 63,704 enplanements — through American Eagle, Delta Airlines, Southwest and United Airlines.
The figures, according to city officials, brought the Fiscal Year 2024 total to 679,622.
Stewart Doreen, the city's strategic communications officer said through the release, "even with one month remaining in FY 2024, the total through 11 months is greater than the 12-month total during the previous record year — FY 2023 (661,842)."
Doreen added through the release that the city also saw an increase parking revenues.
In August, the city collected $697,928, an increase of 10.55% compared August 2023, to bring the total for FY24 so far to $7,551,318. The city collected $7,176,233 for FY23.
The fiscal year for the City of Midland begins in October and continues through the following September.
