MIDLAND, Texas — The Midland Independent School District is implementing a new initiative to strengthen campus security, the district tells NewsWest 9.
The district is currently installing a protective film on all exterior doors at its schools, making the glass shatter-resistant and significantly more resistant to unauthorized entry.
This special film acts as a barrier, ensuring the glass remains intact even when subjected to forceful impact, including bullets and blunt objects like baseball bats.
This measure aims to deter potential intruders and provide valuable time for first responders to arrive in the event of an emergency.
