MIDLAND, TX (KWES) - A portion of Lamesa Road was closed due to a deadly accident in Midland.
The accident happened on Tuesday afternoon around 4:45 p.m. on Lamesa Road between Cuthbert Avenue and South Street.
Midland police said a pickup truck was traveling southbound and a motorcycle was traveling northbound.
That's when, police said, the truck turned left and the two vehicles collided.
According to the report, Midland police had just tried to pull over the motorcyclist, later identified as Miguel Brito, 31, of Midland, for reckless driving.
Authorities say they had followed the motorcycle driver for about two blocks before they made the decision not to chase him due to the safety of others.
Brito was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the pickup truck wasn't injured.
