MIDLAND COUNTY, Texas — Twenty-four-year-old Franklin Azuaje of Midland died after being hit by 28-year-old Devon Gibson of Odessa, who was driving a 2023 Ford F-350, on State Highway 191 at mile marker 270 on July 20 around 2:44 a.m., according to a release from Texas Department of Public Safety.
The Texas DPS report states that Gibson was going westbound on SH 191 near milepost 270 in the inside lane when Azuaje ran into the traffic lanes from north to south in front of Gibson.
According to the report, Gibson tried to avoid Azuaje by taking evasive action, but ended up hitting him.
The Midlander was taken to Midland Memorial Hospital where he would later die. Gibson was not injured in the car-pedestrian crash.
Texas DPS is still investigating the crash and no further information is available at this time.
