MIDLAND, TX (KWES) - Close to 100 people took part in a Keep Families Together protest in Midland on Saturday morning.

Protesters held up signs for their cause as drivers passed by on Midkiff Dr. near the Midland Park Mall.

"I think protestors are always, and above all, caring people and we love our country and we love children," protestor Trish Speight said. "I'm a mom and I can't imagine being separated from my kid."

Midlanders in attendance said they hoped and prayed that the children separated from their families would be with them again.

"More importantly, everybody's been a child and everybody can know what it would feel like to be separated from the people that take care of you and love you," Speight said.

Protests in Midland followed prayer vigils and discussions on the same issues last night in Odessa.
