Missing Pecos County man one month later | What we know

There still is no sign of 41-year-old Justin Joseph Urrutia, the man who went missing early November. If you know anything about his whereabouts, call 432-336-3521.

PECOS COUNTY, Texas — It's been nearly a month since Justin Joseph Urrutia went missing near mile marker 325 off I-10, close to the Sheffield area, after leaving his vehicle in the pasture.

One month later, there still is no sign of Urrutia, despite the efforts of the Pecos County Sheriff's Office expanding their search with helicopters, ATV's and drones.

Chief Deputy Tulon Murphy says the sheriffs first got the call from a landowner near where Urrutia's beat-up vehicle was seen parked which was halfway up a mountain. This happened at about 10:30 a.m.

The car wasn't in the best shape due to the terrain and weather, causing it to break down.

“The vehicle was right off the interstate by a couple hundred yards," Murphy said. "He actually broke down and drove through a gate, and tried to drive down a small mountain. He made it down the hill and made it up about halfway and then the vehicle was disabled because of the terrain."

A lot of his personal belongings-- including his phone and wallet-- were still in the vehicle.

The authorities learned through family that Urrutia was currently taking medication for a mental illness.

Urrutia is a white male, 5'10", 150 pounds, has brown hair, blue eyes and has deep dimples in both cheeks. They do not know what type of clothing he was wearing.

We've contacted the Pecos County Sheriff's Office who said there still is no update to his whereabouts.
