Power in Sanderson restored after tornado in Terrell County, according to sheriff

Several homes were severely damaged and other structures within the community got "moderately" damaged.

SANDERSON, Texas — UPDATE: According to Sheriff Thaddeus Cleveland, all power and water has been restored to the city of Sanderson.

Most of the city of Sanderson is without power after a tornado ripped through Terrell County, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

According to Terrell County Sheriff Thaddeus Cleveland, one U.S. Border Patrol Agent was serious injured after the tornado took a direct hit on his home. Texas DPS has not reported any deaths in relation to this tornado.

Texas DPS stated that several homes were severely damaged and other structures within the community got "moderately" damaged.

"Texas DPS would like to thank the West Texas community for responding to the Sanderson Tornado," Texas DPS said in a press release. "However, the Sanderson community is currently inundated with volunteers and supplies. At this time, volunteers and supplies are being turned around."

According to Texas DPS, crews will be working throughout the night to restore power to Sanderson residents affected by the outage.
