Motorcyclist dead after crash in Midland County

A motorcyclist died Tuesday afternoon following a crash Monday morning on West County Road 100 and South County Road 1305.

MIDLAND, Texas — A motorcyclist died Tuesday afternoon as the result of a crash on Monday in Midland on West County Road (WCR) 100 and South County Road (SCR) 1305. 

According to a Texas Department of Public Safety crash report, a 2008 Kawasaki driven by Ethan James, 33, of Odessa and a 2024 Kenworth, driven by Caleb Wimp, 40, of Midland, were both traveling Eastbound of WCR 100 near SCR 1305. As the 2024 Kenworth turned north into a "private drive," the motorcyclist failed to control speed and crashed into the back of the Kenworth. 

James was transported to the Medical Center Hospital in Odessa and later died on Tuesday afternoon from his injuries, Wimp was not injured. 

The report says, James was wearing a helmet and Wimp was wearing a seatbelt. 

This crash is under investigation, no further information is presented at this time.
